The home improvement boom started early in the pandemic shows no signs of slowing down.
For those homeowners with projects on their mind, the NARI Home Improvement Show — after taking a year off — returns March 25 through 27 at Cleveland’s Huntington Convention Center.
NARI Greater Cleveland President Mark Maltry, a partner in award-winning Northeast Ohio remodeler JEMM Construction LLC, said the show’s goal is to promote professionalism within the industry.
“The importance of the show is really for the public so they have an opportunity to come to one location and essentially interview and meet multiple remodelers that they can consider for their own home improvements,” Maltry said. “They could also get new design ideas and find out what new products are out there so anyone who is considering remodeling in the area.
“It’s a great opportunity for them to get informed, meet remodelers, ask questions and talk about what the design process looks like. It’s not like we have those knick-knacky types of things that some other shows may have. You’re not going to be spending half the day looking at bamboo trees.”
NARI Home Improvement Show attendees have access to award-winning Northeast Ohio remodelers and experts, as well as high-profile exhibits.
In addition to both a She Shed and He Shed, made respectively by Remodel Me Today and JEMM Construction, Northeast Ohio high school students entering the trades will be showing off their talents with three playhouses from the Medina County Career Center, Lorain County JVS and the Auburn Career Center.
Exhibits include the Makers Market featuring local artisans, as well as Artistic Renovations’ popular Chef’s Table with cooking demonstrations by several of Cleveland’s top restaurants and Chefs4Hire.
There’s also LeisureTime Warehouse’s National Pool & Spa Pavilion. The 3,000-square-foot exhibit space displays above-ground pools, spas and saunas at drastically reduced prices.
The other selling point of the NARI Home Improvement Show has to do with avoiding pitfalls so many homeowners encounter these days involving independent contractors who may take on a project with the best intentions but — due to everything from busy schedules to material shortages — get caught in a bind that ultimately ends with unsatisfied customers.
“You have to remember, all of our remodeler members at the show are screened and essentially approved by our association and our board,” Maltry said. “So we just don’t let anyone sign up, pay a fee and you’re automatically a member of NARI.
“We’re screening those companies and making sure that they’re reputable, they’ve been in business for a period of time and they present themselves as members in a manner that is up to our expectations. We continually audit and review that so from a customer standpoint, they’ll have that peace of mind knowing they truly do have a professional working for them.”
